Tikapa marae. Ngati Porou rohe. Located east of Ruatoria. The meeting house is called Pokai. This fireplace appears to be made of concrete blocks and steel plates to cook and heat large pots of water. It is inside the kitchen of the whare kai. Water heated by the fire is used to wash dishes after a large function. I did not see any cooking occur when visiting the kitchen, but it may well have been used in some capacity.
